You have to do things you've never done.
I love that quote, I write it out in my journal at the beginning of every year. Some years I get to a bunch of things I've never done, others, things I've never done get to me.
The main point of the quote is, of course, that you can't just will your dreams into existence. They only come by taking the risk, taking the chance, recognizing a change in your circumstance as the opportunity you've been waiting for.
And then you have to do the work. I've written about that a bunch of times on this blog, because that's the hardest part, the doing of the work.
And it can be scary as hell to operate without a safety net--but sometimes the only way to get a safety net is to build it yourself. Many of us operate with "pretend" nets that help us create the illusion of safety when really they don't exist at all. We're all learning that now as we recalibrate what life means in the reality of COVID-19.
But maybe now is that time for you to chuck it all and take that risk. Life as we know it is changing anyway, so why not now to take the step to make the life that you're truly excited about living, one that would get you out of bed in the morning and get you ready to take on the day?
At some point you will have to do things you've never done to create this life you want to lead. Why not start now?
